Often companies leave hiring to the last minute. Hiring new recruits is put on the bottom rung of importance. Just under the Christmas dinner planning and above your costumes for the sevens, hiring can be neglected.
Sure, we all know that hiring is important. We all know that companies cannot grow without hiring; but why do we often put it as a last priority?
Maybe its because your plate is full. Infact, you desert bowl is probably full too, and so is your candidiates.
We are all busy.
Often a lack of priority comes from a lack of focus. A lack of focus comes from a lack of planning. A lack of planning, comes from a lack of a system. With the lack of a system, Hiring is a tedious, boring process.
Hiring is meant to be fun. Look forward to your new employees, new talent and lives that you are going to positively impact. Hiring should not take most of your time. The majority of your time should be spent interviewing and getting to know your candidates, rather than sifting and analyzing cv’s.
The most important ability when hiring new employees is the ability to secure a candidate before your competitors do and get them in front of you.
Its not how many candidates you have
or how many agencies you have looking
or even how big your candidate silo is
Its who is looking right now
