There’s a misunderstanding about recruiters that’s repeated all to often. A good recruiter wants their candidate to succeed and wants their client to be happy. Often a recruiter will get a little too eager to push a candidate on to you, by leaving many voice mails on your phone or by bombarding with email.
Are they doing this to be annoying? Sure, you’ll delete the 5th message before listening to it and sigh that you do not have time to play phone tag; but to a recruiter, their lively hood depends on a yes or no; and then moving on. Its a psychology. Recruiters are not generally out to annoy you, they exist to help you. The market really is that tight at the moment, and leaving a message 5 times can often be adequate. Why?
- Because that candidate just went to your competitor.
- That candidate just went to another agency.
The number 1 key skill in recruitment today is speed.
This scenario also works in the reverse—Clients and Recruiters need set expectations when working together. You need to create simple, effective SLA’s and Call back times. Hirewall is designed to fix this problem and many more so click and signup for the Beta if you haven’t already.
